THE IDEA = Character + Problems + Setting + Research
Story ideas come from many sources. They may arrive fully developed, but in most cases the writer gets a hazy idea which needs to be developed further. The idea may begin with a scene, a character, or a problem. But in all cases, plot ideas require some direction, which in turn calls for research.
