PUBLICATION DAY!
It's time to celebrate!
As a brand new author, I made most of the publicity on my own with local book signings and school visits. I was fortunate to have a children's book store right in my own small town, and how grateful I was that the owner gave me my first reception as a published author. Over a period of a couple of years, I visited 30 schools to talk about my book and about the writing process. What a fun time that was for me, and, judging from the amount of fan letters I received, it was also fun for the students. (Be sure to visit my Fan Mail page on this website!) The lectures generated additional sales, perhaps even more than the book signings did. And the school visits also provided extra income.
I have to say, I am writing for the coolest age group! These kids are at their innocent best, and they're honest in their praise and evaluation of my work. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me to their school and showing me a great time, and for their librarians, teachers, and parents who made it all possible.
