Here are a few of the many comments I received from elementary school students. This makes writing for children worthwhile.

Dear Mrs. Turner:

* It must of been hard typing & typing & typing. The best part is that little eskimo boy. The best part in the story is when the boy got trapped in the igloo. (Brandon)

* I loved your book and the title of it was fantastic. I'm going to find your book no matter what. I hope you get to publish another book as good as the Haunted Igloo. (Eric)

* It sounds like a story that would take a lot of creation in your mind. I really think that you should keep on making books. That book was worth a million dollars I think. (Katie)

* I hope I can be an author like you one day. I should be able to be one, because I'm a good writer. Congratulations! Keep writing! (Mike)

* When will you start writing some new books? My Dad was really impressed by the story so far. (Todd)

* With your book I could learn more about Eskimos. (Greg)

* Thank you so much for telling us how to be a writer. I hope I get one of your books before everybody buys one. The only reason why I want one of your books is because when you read that one chapter I already wanted your book. (Nicole)

* I loved that story you wrote! I hope you can come again with another good story but that's the best story I ever heard in my entire life. (Justin)

* I liked the part when Lise had her baby in the "haunted igloo." The setting in the Arctic was great. (Stephanie)

* I really enjoyed your book...because of the great description you used in your writing . . . and how you made Jean Paul be a hero. I am wondering what your next book Spirit Lights will be like. (Tony)

* I'm doing a book too. It is called The Bear. I hope my book is as good as your book. (Eric)

* I like your idea on how the story took place in the Arctic. I can not wait to read the book you are writing. (Leah)

* Your book was one of the best books I have ever read! I can't wait until the sequel comes out. (Rachel)

* Your book was fantastic because you talked about where the story took place in the Arctic and how cold it was there. I thought it was a great book. The title was an execellent one because in the story the three boys said that Jean-Paul had to go into the haunted igloo if he wanted to be in their club and when his mother was about to deliver the baby boy, they had to go into the haunted igloo. I loved the characters and how you named them. They are fantastic names! How is your new book called Spirit Lights going? I hope it's a great one like The Haunted Igloo. (Your Howard Husky Friend, Lindsay--Husky is the school mascot!)

* I bought your book. Our teacher read it to us but I am reading it again. I am on page 43 and I like it all over again. Your book is adventures, funny, spooky, exciting, and an all around great book. Mrs. Turner, I'll give you a million dollars for that book!!! (Jedd)

* I learned lots of writing skills when you came to our school. (Dan)

* There are many things I want to be when I grow up, and one thing I want to be is an author. (Kristina)

* I think The Haunted Igloo is the best story!! I hope your next book is great also!! I wish I could meet you again. I bet everybody does! Remember you said you'd put me in your next book as a snowflake. (Erin)

* I like your book because it was in the Arctic, it was exciting and it had dogs. It was an adventure. I can't wait to read The Haunted Igloo, part 2. (Michael J.)

* You are the best author I ever met. When you gave that speech I felt like I was in the book. Your speech told me about how you made the book and about your editor. I think I might try to write a book someday. I really want you to know how super, terrific and excellent your book is. (Jennifer W.)

* Your book was great!! My favorite book is yours! I'm not kidding! It was so good that I'm saving up my money to buy your book The Haunted Igloo. It was exciting, spooky, and adventurous. It is everything I want in a book. Your book gave me a dream to be a rider (sic). Thanks again for comming to my school! (Audrey B.)

* You are a good story teller. I hope you can give us another one to read. I want to know how is Jean-Paul's foot? Did he have an operation? I hope you write the second book soon. I really want to read it. Thank you for coming to talk to us. It was fun and we learned a lot about writing stories. (Jeremy)

* I hope you write another book about the Arctic because it makes you feel like you are really there. (Becky)

* You have a really great book! I loved it, it was really exciting! How many books do you think your going to write about The Haunted Igloo? Is Lise and Cordell going to be in the next book you write? (Amber H.)

* When you are done with the next book don't worry, we will get it and read it! (Scott)

* I really liked your book. It gave me pictures in my mind. (Emilie)

* We appreciate you telling us about the culture of the Eskimos. (Magie)

* It was a pleasure meeting a real live author. (Cindy J.)

* I do not really like books but this is a great book. I'm going to find it in Kimberly's library. If I write a book I am going to dedicate it to you because you encouraged me (Jamie J.)

* I hope you make a sequel to The Haunted Igloo. (Kyle D.)
